Orville E. Martin, 90, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 surrounded by his family at The Terrace of Solarbron.
Orville was born in St. Phillips, Indiana on April 21, 1922 to the late Edward and Lena (Herrenbruck) Martin. Orville was self employed for 44 yrs and he loved his work. In his free time Orville enjoyed golf, working in his garden and growing fruit trees. He was very active at Simpson United Methodist Church and led an Adult Sunday School Class referred to as 1:22 Class. Orville was a WW II US Air Force veteran and served in five Campaigns in the South Pacific.
Orville is survived by his daughters, Carole (Alan) Siesky of Evansville, IN and Cathy (Steve) Witte of Evansville, IN; son, Patrick Lee (Margaret) Martin of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Todd (Robyn) Siesky, Adam Martin, David Martin, Lindsay Witte, Ann Marie (Chris) Reich; great-grandchildren, Noah Reich, Alivia Reich, Ava Martin, Evalynn Martin; God-son and nephew, Norman Orville Martin; nephews, Steve Martin and David Martin; nieces, Cynthia Kolb and Susan Feaster.
Orville is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 49 years, Ann (Carrico) Martin; and brothers, Wilbur, Elmer, Clarence, and Ralph Martin.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, February 8, 2013 at Simpson United Methodist Church, 2201 W. Illinois St. with the Rev. Dennis Adams officiating. Entombment will follow at Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may visit from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave, Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Simpson United Methodist Church Food Bank, 2201 W. Illinois St. Evansville, IN 47712.
