Oscar Pickels Jr.
Evansville, Ind.
Oscar Pickels Jr., 85, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
Oscar was born in Evansville, Ind., on January 15, 1928, to the late Oscar and Mildred (Ripplemeir) Pickels. Oscar served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from Whirlpool after 35 years of service. Oscar was a dedicated member of VFW Post 2953 and the American Legion Post 265. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and spending time with his family.
Oscar is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bernice (Williams) Pickels; daughters, Debbie (Tony) Jackson, of Henderson, Ky., and Bonnie (Kenny) Powers, of Evansville; grandchildren, Abby Diefenbach, Brian Powers, Adam Robinson, Nathan Robinson, Nick Robinson, DeAndra Jackson and Brandy Jackson; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Oscar is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elanor (Richard) Holmes; and by his brother, Delmar Pickels.
Private graveside services will be held at Caborn Cemetery in Posey County, Ind., at a later date.
