Paul Hutchcraft, 87, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Woodlands Convalescent Center.
Paul was born in Evansville, Indiana, on May 8, 1926, to the late Arthur Hutchcraft and Laura Thelma (Padgett) Hutchcraft Gibbs-Wilhite. Paul was a Deacon at Friendship Southern Baptist Church where he was a member since 1958. He faithfully served as music and choir director for many years at church. Paul worked as a quality control technician for Whirlpool and retired after 41 years of service. He went on to work part time for Buehlers for 10 years. Paul had a beautiful tenor voice and made many people happy singing special songs at weddings and church services.
Paul is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary C. "Kitty" Hutchcraft Gibbs; daughter, Sherrie Kay (David) McBride, of Newburgh, Ind.; sisters, Helen (Edwin) Johnson, of Franklin, Tenn., Doris (Baxter) Watkins, of North Carolina, and Mary (Rick) Goodwin, of Evansville; brothers, Charles (Joyce) Gibbs, of Evansville, Harold Gibbs, of New Harmony, Ind., and Howard (Wilda) Gibbs, of Canton, Ohio; grandchildren, Bret (Sarah) McBride and Bryan (Aimee Gayle) McBride, both of Newburgh, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Carley Sollars and Landon McBride, both of Newburgh, Ind.; and one on the way; and by many nieces and nephews who were special to him.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents; his father who raised him, Arthur Gibbs; sister, Anna Mae Reddington; and brothers, Jess Hutchcraft, Donald (Vi) Gibbs and Arthur (Virgie) Gibbs.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711, with Rev. Robert Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home and again from noon until service time on Wednesday.
