Robert "Bob" James Hohl, Sr.
Evansville, Ind.
Robert "Bob" James Hohl, Sr., 92, of Fairfield, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
Bob was born in Evansville, Indiana on May 25, 1921 to the late Raymond and Clara (Veneman) Hohl. He worked at Whirlpool Corporation for 10 years. Bob and his wife, Marie, owned and operated The Open Hearth Restaurant for many years. He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran, member of the VFW Post #1114, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and a long time member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Donna Bliss (David) of Barnhill, IL and Shari Hohl (Carole Mouloff) of Geneva, IL; sister, Mary Gene Bays, Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Riesa Gusewell (Neil) of AR, Robyn Pierce (Michael) of Houston, TX, Richelle Miller of Fort Wayne, IN, R.J. Hohl III, Laura Lousignont (Michael) of Evanville, IN, David Bliss Jr. (Annette) of Fairfield, IL and Anthony Bliss (Abby) of Loami, IL; 14 great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Hohl in 2009, sons, Michael Hohl and Robert Hohl Jr., sister, Rita Enlow and brother, Raymond Hohl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W. Mill Road, with Father Paul Ferguson of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and Father Michael Mbonu of St. Edward Catholic Church in Fairfield, IL celebrating. Pastor Anthony Bliss will also be sharing a tribute. Entombment will follow at St Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit from 2-8 P.M. on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN and again from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Tuesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church or St. Edward Catholic Church, 300 N.W. 5th Street, Fairfield, IL 62837.
