Ruth Ione Stewart Gordon
Evansville, Indiana
Ruth Ione Stewart Gordon, 81, went to be with the Lord on February 10, 2013. She was born on September 21, 1931 to William and Isabella Stewart. Ruth received her education in Evansville, graduating from Central High School in 1950. She went to DeVry's Beauty College and received her license as a beauty operator. She met her husband, Charles, in Sunday School at age 7 and went on to marry him in 1953. She was a faithful wife, mother and good friend for 59 years. Ruth became a born again Christian and she and her husband pastored the North Side Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ for 35 years, where she was the piano player for many years to come.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; 1 son, William A. Gordon; 1 daughter, Tamara D. McCormick and her husband, Chris; 3 grandchildren, Nathan Bayne and wife, Erin, Sara Bayne, and Charlee Storch and husband, Donnie; and 1 great granddaughter, Addy Bayne. She also leaves behind 1 sister, Imogene Lutz; 1 sister-in-law, Ruth Stewart; nieces, nephews, and many friends and church family.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 1:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home. Rev. Jason Lawson and Rev. Willard Clement will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm on Tuesday and from 11:00am until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank St. Mary's Hospital staff and especially Dr. Ryan Duffey for her continued care.
