Shara L. (Brown) King, 71, of Blairsville, Ind., went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 5:53 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, while surrounded by family at Deaconess Hospital.
Shara was born on October 2, 1941, in Evansville. She was the daughter of Sherrel and Elner (Newboles) Brown. She was married to her husband, Jay P. King, for 46 years.
Shara retired in 2006 from South Terrace Elementary School where she worked as the school secretary for 20 years. Shara was a graduate of Bosse High School and also of the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. After earning her nursing degree, she worked as a nurse in several different capacities. She was of the Baptist faith.
Shara loved making crafts and was known for the fabric angels that she made. She was also very proud of her recent admission to the Daughters of the American Revolution. Shara enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, especially when her children or grandchildren were participating in them.
The family would like to especially thank the doctors, nurses and other staff that cared for Shara during her stay in the Cardiovascular ICU Unit at Deaconess Hospital.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Jay King, of Blairsville, IN daughter, Jenny Housley (Joshua) of Evansville; sons, Daniel King (Lesley) and John King, both of Evansville; sister, Jolene Meyers (Dr. Mark), of Newburgh; nephews, Curt Meyers (Libo), of San Jose, Calif., and Dr. Chad Meyers, of New York, N.Y.; grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, Jacob, Benjamin, Isaac, Noah, Samuel, Travis David and Savannah; and great-nephews, Alan and Alex.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Daniel King officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel and again from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Monday.
