Shirley Mae (Sears) Hagan 76, of Evansville, Indiana, formerly of Elberfeld, Indiana, entered Heaven's gates at 5:45 am, June 4, 2013, at NHC Health Care in Springfield, Tennessee.
Shirley had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church where she thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity of greeting and welcoming all those early birds who walked through her door for the 8:00 am service.
Shirley had a precious personality and touched all those who came in contact with her. Even in her high school days it was obvious she was special as in her senior year she was voted Most Popular girl, Prettiest girl, and Homecoming Queen. She was a favorite among students and teachers alike.
Shirley went on to pursue many career paths which included; working as a clerk at Sears, selling real estate, owning and running a weight loss business, and working the front desk at Christian Fellowship Church.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Shirley was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She also loved to watch food and cooking channels and was a voracious reader.
Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Garland W. Hagan. She was also predeceased by her brother, Donald Sears of Rockville, California. Shirley is survived by a brother, Earnest Sears and a sister, Jeanette Goodson, of Evansville, Indiana; one daughter, Terri Hagan Edwards and her husband W.D., of Springfield, Tennessee, two sons, Kelley Hagan of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Todd Hagan and his wife Kimberly of Tampa, Florida; three grandsons, Gabriel and Benjamin of Tampa, Florida and Daniel Edwards of Springfield, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 2 pm until 7 pm at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Monday, June 10, 2013, at 10 am at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel with the Reverend David Niednagel officiating.
