Evansville, Ind.
Thelma E. Corn, 93, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Braun Nursing Home. She was born March 24, 1920, in Evansville, to Alex and Elizabeth (Keil) Stippler.
Thelma formerly worked at Hoosier Cardinal, Country School Restaurant and retired from Holy Redeemer Cafeteria after 45 years. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, SWIRCA, the ladies auxiliary at Germania Maennerchor and Evansville Athletic Club. She enjoyed playing bingo, attending events at SWIRCA, baseball, the Don Mattingly Club and was a U of E basketball fan. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Corn in September 1989; sister, Esther Culver; brothers, Alex, Gilbert and Richard Stippler.
She is survived by her son, Jack Corn (Phyllis); daughter, Carolyn Knopfmeier (Howard) all of Evansville; grandson Kent Knopfmeier, of Norman, OK; sister, Janette (Spitz) Wempe; sister-in-law, Mildred Stippler and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710 with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W Mill Rd, Evansville, IN 47710.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Monday February 10, 2014, at the church with Fr. Paul Ferguson officiating.
Entombment will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum.
The family would like to thank the staff at Braun Nursing Home for their care and compassion.
