Mount Vernon, Ind.
Vernon Wilson, 58, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012, at his home, with his family at his side. He was born October 2, 1953, in Evansville, Ind., to Alfred "Hap" and Dorothy (Carrol) Wilson.
Vernon was a longtime member of First Christian Church. He had worked for over 36 years at General Electric. Vernon loved to spend time farming, fishing and being outdoors, but most of all loved to watch his granddaughters play softball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Wilson; and sister, Elnora Johnson.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 37 years, Vicki (Weir) Wilson; daughters, Melissa Gilpin (Todd), Brandi Wilson; granddaughters, Tatiana Marie Gilpin and Gabrielle Marie Gilpin; brothers, Marvin, Randy and Bump Wilson; sisters, Bessie Allyn, Elaine Bradley, Betty Oeth and Sue Stivers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St. in Mount Vernon, with burial to follow at Beech Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1 until 7 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church or Deaconess Hospice.
