William E. Allen
Evansville, Indiana
William E. Allen, 70, of Evansville passed away Wednesday July 23, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital. He was born April 15, 1944 in Greenville, KY to William Carroll and Eunice (Vincent) Allen.
William graduated from Bosse High School and pursued a career in the armed services. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in Germany and Vietnam. He retired from Koch and Sons. His job allowed him to travel the country and see all the USA had to offer, and meet so many friends. Bill had an uncanny talent of never meeting a stranger. Bill's favorite hobbies were his family, wood working, fishing and traveling on the Ohio in his pontoon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Birdie Jean Chilton and Wanda Fay Rainey and brother, Bobby Carroll Allen.
William is survived by his wife, Joelle (Butcher) Allen; sister, Patty Thomason (Ronnie); sister-in-law, Gari Layman; brother-in-law, Don Rainey; parents-in-law, Jack and Rita Butcher; children; grandchildren; nieces and nephews. In all his years, Bill embraced his greatest role to be a son, brother, father, uncle and grandfather. His family meant everything to him.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Critical Care Unit at Deaconess Hospital for their incredible sensitivity to prepare Bill for yet another great journey.
Per request, there will be no services other than "Passing it forward", the kindness Bill shared with so many. Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Bill will be so missed by so many.
