Paul Kenneth "Ken" Fitzgerald

Paul Kenneth "Ken" Fitzgerald, 86 of Evansville passed away at 2 am, Sunday, March 2, 2014 at VNA Charlier Hospice.
Ken was born July 29, 1927 in Deanefield, KY to the late Alfred and Shurilda (Hays) Fitzgerald. He retired from Whirlpool Corporation in 1987 after 41 years of service. Ken served in the US Army from 1948 to 1954 and was a combat veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge. Ken was an avid UK basketball fan and enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a member and past officer of the Erie Canal Beagle Club and was a member of the United Commercial Travelers of America. Ken was a ham radio operator for many years using the call letters WA9FSE.
He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
He is survived by Esther L. (Normandin) Fitzgerald, his wife of 61 years, daughters, Pamela J. (Steve) Baker and Jaci L. Brinkman, both of Evansville; sons, John F. (Phyllis) Fitzgerald of Melbourne, FL and Scott K. Fitzgerald, of Evansville; grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie) Baker of Jupiter, FL, Sarah Baker of Evansville, Ryan Brinkman of Evansville and Amanda (Ryan) Clermont of Melbourne, FL; great-grandchildren, Brooke Baker, Brennen Paul Baker, and Braedon Brinkman; sister, Eula Evans of Owensboro, KY, and mother-in-law, Helen Smith of Newburgh.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Dan Kennedy officiating. Entombment will be in the Heritage Chapel in Memorial Park Cemetery where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform full military rites.
Friends may call from 3 pm until 7 pm, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel and again from Noon until time of service at 1 pm, Thursday.
