Bettye Jane (Barrett) Vinson
Evansville, Ind.
Bettye Jane (Barrett) Vinson, 82, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Pine Haven Health and Rehabilitation.
Bettye was born in Evansville, Ind., on October 30, 1931 to the late Rondal and Ethel (Wright) Barrett. She had previously been employed at General Tire and Rubber, Hardee's and the United States Census Bureau. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was the financial secretary, and the first woman trustee in church. Bettye enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bettye is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Vinson; daughter, Teresa Silke, of Evansville, Ind.; sons, Robert Vinson (Michelle), of Round Rock, Texas, and Harry Vinson (Angie), of Ashburn, Va.; sister, Doris Strouse, of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Donald (Judy), Jeff, Zack, Erik and Will Vinson, Scott Silke (Elizabeth), Andrea Gresham (Bobby); great-grandchildren, Shealy, Destin and Brock Gresham, Kinsey, Abbie and Noble Vinson, Kie and Morgan Silke.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711, with Rev. Kirk Horstmeyer officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Browning Funeral Home, and from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday at Browning Funeral Home.
