Evansville, Ind.
Alice (Hebert) Walton, 93, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014, at Heritage Center.
She was born on August 15, 1920, in Jacksonville, Fla., the daughter of Mabel (Chewning) and Joseph Hebert. Alice graduated from Central High School in 1938. Alice's family was the center of her life. Her most treasured moments were spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For over 70 years, Alice was an active member of First Christian Church where she was involved with numerous church groups, such as the women's council and the choir. Most recently she was a member of Old North United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, Alice was an avid reader. She was a volunteer and board member for many community organizations, including, Easter Seals, YWCA, Philharmonic, DAR, PEO, Musicians, Garden and Culture Clubs and Girl and Boys Scouts. Alice's family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Heritage Center for their care, attention and kindness during these last years.
Alice is survived by daughter, Julia Georgesen (Stephen); sons, John G. Walton Jr. (Josephine) and Charles Walton, all of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Julia Jetmore, (Matt), of Chicago, Ill., John Georgeson (Ann), of Cincinnati, Ohio, Carla Walton, Scot Wright, Stacey Wright, Julie and Mike Robinson, Larry Craddock (Susan), Darryl Craddock; great-grandchildren, John William Georgesen, Daniel Steven Georgesen, Henry and Emily Jetmore.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, John G. Walton, in 2012; and brothers, Charles and John Hebert.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Old North United Methodist Church, 4201 Stringtown Road, Evansville, IN 47711, with Pastor Mike Monahan officiating.
Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Old North United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center, 3701 Bellemeade Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714 or Old North United Methodist Church.
