Henry Edward Burk, 72, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at his son's residence. His body was donated to the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Edward was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 23, 1940 to the late Thomas and Viola (O'Nan) Burk. He was a 1959 graduate of Wadesville High School. Edward worked as an offset printer for over 40 years. He retired from the Evansville Rescue Mission.
He was a member of East Mesa Baptist Church and attended Gateway Fellowship, SBC. He was an avid Detroit fan. He was an assistant Scout Master of Wadesville Troop #490. Past Worshipful Master of Poseyville Masonic Lodge #632 and Order of the Eastern Star #176 of Princeton, IN. As a member of the Hadi Funsters, he enjoyed playing "Shorty the Clown." He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their activities, camping and as a church camp volunteer.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara (Hawkins) Burk, son, Edward "Lee" Burk (Lily), Mesa, AZ, daughter, Kelley Knapp (Michael) of Bryson City, NC, his brothers, George (Beverly), William (Sara) Burk of Evansville, grandchildren, Paul Thomas, Erickson Linglingen, Christopher Eli Burk and Wesley Ray and Austin Michael Knapp.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Grace Baptist Church, 1200 N. Garvin St., Evansville, Indiana officiated by Pastors Ray Deeter and Jim Nelson. Friends may visit from 9:00 am until time of service. Burial will be held at Fernwood Cemetery, Henderson, KY.
