Opal Lena (Schroeder) Juncker, age 85, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Monday, April 07, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital Main Campus.
Mrs. Juncker was born February 8, 1929 in Posey County, IN to the late Charles and Carrie (Bingemer) Schroeder.
Opal was a homemaker and had been awarded Homemaker of the Year by the Posey County Home Extension Office. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ - Lippe, the Women's Guild at the church and a former member of the church choir. She was also a member of Today's Home Economics Club and served as a 4-H leader for over 40 years. Opal and her late husband, Wilton enjoyed dancing with their friends on Saturday night.
Opal is survived by two daughters, Debra L. (Ronald) Linstromberg of Hudson, IN and Ann G. (Glenn "Butch") Proctor of Mt. Vernon; three sons, Robert D. (Linda) Juncker and Randy C. Juncker, both of Mt. Vernon, Brian P. (Pamela) Juncker, of Haubstadt; two sisters, Vernita Willman of Evansville and Rev. Ruby Schroeder of Wadesville; ten grandchildren, Ryan (Anna) Linstromberg, Sarah Linstromberg, Jason Linstromberg, Lisa (Cal) Springsteen, Jamie Grabert, Kellie Grabert, Jennifer (Adam) Heim, Theresa Sumbles, Shawn (Maggie) Spindler and Michael Juncker and six great grandchildren, Royce Linstromberg, Eli Linstromberg, Jaxon Heim, Abby Linstromberg, Jessie Juncker and Hadley Spindler.
In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Wilton Carl Juncker in 2010 and by a brother, Donald Schroeder.
Funeral services for Opal will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Zion United Church of Christ - Lippe, Rev. Linda Nanninga and Pastor Al Schmitz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Friday at the church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to West River Health Campus and their staff for the compassionate care shown to Opal. She truly enjoyed her time at West River with them.
Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Church of Christ - Lippe, 9000 E. Copperline Road, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620 to benefit the choir at the church or to the , 911 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN.
