Hugh Haycraft, 76 of Evansville passed away at 7:17 am, Sunday, April 6, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Hugh was born November 7, 1937 in Leitchfield, Kentucky, the son of Tilford and Maurine (McBeath) Haycraft. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Georgetown College where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Hugh had worked as a medical technologist for 40 years at Welborn Baptist Hospital and St. Mary's Medical Center. He had been a longtime and proud member of Calvary Baptist Church and was recently attending Grace Baptist Church. He was commissioned as a member of the Kentucky Colonels and was an avid motorcyclist and an aficionado of history, music and movies. Hugh Mac, as he was known by many of his family and friends, had so much respect and kindness for others. He was always ready and willing to hand out insightful encouragements and helpful advice for so many appreciative people in his life - he will deeply be missed.
He is survived by son, Ted Haycraft of Evansville, daughters, Dawn Biggerstaff of Evansville and Jill (Alan) Grant of Eureka, MO, grandchildren, Lexie, Luke, Evan, Isaac and Jacob and great-grandchildren, Preston and Aiden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dennis Haycraft; stepmother, Naomi Haycraft and his former wife, Janis (Porter) Hart.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 pm, Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Ferd Elfreich officiating.
Friends may call from 2 pm until time of service at 7 pm, Thursday at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.
Graveside Services will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Thomas Cemetery in Leitchfield, KY.
