Sharon (Buckman) Hooper
Chandler, Ind.
Sharon (Buckman) Hooper, 66, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh from complications after a long battle with cancer.
Sharon graduated from Castle High School Class of 1966 where she met and later married her high school sweetheart. She and Bob had been married for 45 years.
She was a member of the Chandler Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 51 years, where she served her Lord as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher for 10 years. She sang in the choir and served on committees including The Prayer Shawl Committee, and helped teach Flock 99.
Sharon was a program assistant for Warrick-Gibson-Pike County Special Education Cooperative for 18 years at Chandler School, and retired from Wink Construction after working 12 years.
She was a member of the Sew-N-Sews Quilting group, having won "Best Cross Stitched" quilts at the Camp Breckenridge quilt show at Morganfield, Ky., in 2010.
Sharon is survived by her husband and caregiver, Robert "Bob" Hooper, of Chandler; stepfather, Quinton Aldridge, of Chandler; two sons, Darren Hooper (Lisa), of Chicago, Ill., and Blake Hooper (Miyuki), of Nagoya, Japan; nieces and nephews, Robyn (Ron) Banaszek, Stacey Buckman, Mark Buckman, Joshua Hooper, Philip (Amanda) Hooper and Angela (Eric) Mushrush.
Funeral Service 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Chandler Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jesse Thornton and Nick Ashley officiating.
Burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Chandler.
Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Koehler Funeral Home - Perigo Chapel 7022 Heim Road in Chandler and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at Chandler Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
