William R. Hester
Evansville, Ind.
William R. Hester, 85, of Evansville, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, following a brief illness at Deaconess Hospital.
Beloved husband, father, brother and uncle, Bill was born in Hayden, CO on June 23, 1928. He was fourth of eight children of John White and Thelma Fowler Hester, long-term Evansville residents, who pre-deceased him in 1957 and 1972, respectively.
Bill Hester was one of the gentlest, kindest and most good-natured gentleman one could ever know. Loved, admired and respected by everyone in his circle of friends and family, he was a gifted automotive mechanic and "tinkerer" who was a consummate handyman.
Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol Arnold Hester. Bill and Carol had three children, William Ralph Hester Jr, (May 23, 1954 to July 2, 1986), who left behind his wife, Rita and three children, Kellie, Deborah and William III; a sister, LaDonna Marie Halfacre, with four grandsons, Richard, Robert, Randy and Ryan Koss and their wives and children; and brother, Michael Raymond who had a son, Michael Hester Jr. Bill is also survived by brothers and sisters, Della Hester Lee, of Belleview, NE, Virgil Charles, of Evansville, Ruth Hester Estrada, of Omaha, NE, and John Clarence Hester, of Charlottesville, VA.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m.Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, with Pastor Eddie Martin officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, where Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Club will render full military honors.
Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, and from noon until service time, Saturday, at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.
