Vernon 'Shorty' Herman
Vernon "Shorty" Herman, 90, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital Gateway Campus.
Mr. Herman owned and operated Herman's Turf Supply at Ellis Park for over 60 years and was a 70 year member of IBEW Local #16. He attended Reitz High School where he played football. Most of all he enjoyed watching his grandson, Daniel, play baseball. Shorty was dearly loved by family and friends and had recently celebrated his 90th birthday with two childhood friends from Reitz High School.
Surviving Shorty are two daughters, Sonja Herman and Lavon Wood, both of Evansville; a granddaughter, Tracey (Jeff) Titus; and great-grandchild, Daniel Sander; several nieces, nephews and his five beloved dogs.
