Donald L. Buedel, age 80, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, July 08, 2014 at the Deaconess VNA Plus Charlier Hospice Center.
Don was born July 27, 1933 in Evansville to the late Oscar and Margaret (Clary) Buedel. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He had worked as a kettle man for Sterling Brewery for over 40 years and also at Kuester's Hardware, Lewis Bakery and Home Depot on the west side. Don never met a stranger and enjoyed baking for his Home Depot family.
Surviving Don are his children, Donald J. Buedel of Evansville, Kathryn (Philip) Lemond of Boonville, Jan (Ralph) Elpers of Evansville and Michael (Paula) Buedel of Evansville; three brothers, David Buedel of Evansville, James Buedel of Williamsport, PA and Thomas Buedel of Evansville; grandchildren, Donald W. Buedel, Julie (Allen) Gansman, Brad Buedel, Amy (Jon) Scherzinger, Kristin (Bryan) Riddle, Marc (Rahel) Lemond, Nicole (Eric) Luigs, Brently Buedel, Kierstin Buedel and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Teresa (Neale) Buedel in 2012 and by a brother, Jerry Buedel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rev. Brian Emmick officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Mausoleum.
Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at St. Boniface Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Health South Rehabilitation Center and staff for the special care given to Don during his time there.
Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial High School, Mater Dei High School or St. Boniface Catholic Church.
