Betty L. (Rohr) Koenig
Evansville, Ind.
Betty L. (Rohr) Koenig, 92, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 at West River Health Campus.
Betty was born in Evansville, Ind., on May 9, 1922 to the late Frank and Mary (Steinhoefel) Rohr. She was a lifetime member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where for 50 years she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and with her husband, Butch, served as Youth Leaders. Betty was a past PTA President at Harwood and Central High School. For over 30 years, she volunteered at Deaconess Hospital as a Pink Lady and for over 40 years, she was a member of the Goodwill Auxiliary. Betty was also a member of White Shrine of Jerusalem #2, Eastern Star #555, Daughters of the Nile and DeMolay mom.
Betty is survived by a son, Kurt Koenig (Sandy), of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Lisa Radke (Sean), of Tokyo, Japan, Scott Koenig (Emily), of Kirkwood, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Malachi, Ian and Naomi Radke, William, Adam and Jude Koenig; longtime friends, Verna Hoffher, of St. Peters, Mo., and James and Sharon Woods, of Henderson, Ky.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years, George A. "Butch" Koenig; and sister, Dorothy Shoemaker.
Friends may visit with Betty's family from 1 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Judith Early officiating. Private burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John United Methodist Church, 1900 N. Fulton Avenue, Evansville, IN 47710.
