Betty Ann (Fuchs) Staser
Evansville, Ind.
Betty Ann (Fuchs) Staser, 92, of Evansville, died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Newburgh Health Care Center. She was born March 27, 1922, in Evansville to Albert and Elizabeth (Folke) Fuchs.
Betty was a graduate of Memorial High School and Evansville College. She began her Spanish and English teaching career at the then "new" Harrison High School, from which she retired as head of the foreign language department. She followed many of her former students through letters and phone calls she received after her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, bridge, and her family.
Betty is survived by her son, John Stuff Staser (Marcia); grandchildren, Dr. Jonathan A. Staser (Colleen), of Bloomington, Ind.; Aaron M. Staser (Mindy), of Seattle, Wash., and Dr. Karl W. Staser, of St. Louis, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Henry, Luca and Nico Staser and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, John Fickas Staser in 1968; her parents; and five brothers.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 9, 2014, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Jean Vogler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Reitz Memorial High School, 1500 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714.
The family would like to thank Newburgh Health Care Center and Nancy Sisson, Betty's roommate, for all of the love, care and compassion for her during her six year stay.
