Gladys C. French Goodson, 93, of Evansville, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 14, 2014.
Gladys was born in Christian County, Kentucky on March 3, 1921, to the late Minnie Lee (Blythe) and Otlio Hensley. She graduated from Johnston City Illinois High School and Tri- State Beauty College. Gladys formerly worked at Hoosier Cardinal and later self employed cosmetologist for 13 years. She started working at Browning Funeral Home when Charles Browning first opened and remained his right hand woman for over fifty years, retiring at the age of 90. Gladys was a member of Faith Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday School and was once very active at Northside Christian Union Church for 32 years. She enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states and state capitals. Gladys also traveled abroad through 16 countries, including Europe.
Gladys is survived by her children, Paula (French) Schaaf, Rick French, Jerri Ann Barchet (Richard); sister, Imogene Allen, all of Evansville, IN; nine grandchildren; son-in-law, Keith Fisher; nieces, Sharon Robling (Denny) and Karen Sue Taylor (Mike).
Gladys was preceded in death by her first husband, Val French; second husband, Bob Goodson; daughters, Linda Fisher and Susie McCrackin; and a son-in-law, Jerry Schaaf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Browning Funeral Home 738 E. Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711, with Rev. Cathy West officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2014, at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
