Beth Ann Fortwendel
Tell City, Ind.
Beth Ann Fortwendel, 35, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014, surrounded by her family, at the home of her mother, in Hawesville, KY, after a long fight with Scleroderma.
She was born September 14, 1978. She was a 1996 graduate of Tell City High School and Indiana State University. Beth had a huge heart for all people, spending time on missions in Africa and Nashville, TN, at the Women's Corp. helping women regain their lives. She was an Interim Youth Pastor at Lewisport Baptist Church and Central Baptist Church, touching the lives of many young people. She also attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY. Beth was an avid sports fan and loved the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Cubs and Indiana Pacers. She enjoyed euchre and traveling with her family and friends. Her nieces and nephews were "her children" and she took an active role in their lives. She had worked at Lincoln Hills Development Corp. and ARI in Tell City.
Surviving are her parents, Sandy and James Sr. Calvert, of Hawesville, Rick and Barb Fortwendel, of New Boston; sisters, Kristi (Josh) Scott, of Tell City, Carin (Scotty) Kelly, of Owensboro, and Pam Garrett, of Owensboro; brothers, Jarrod (Andrea) Fortwendel, of Mobile, AL, Brian (Crystal) Vinson, of Tell City, and Johnathan Calvert, of Utica; grandmother, Melba Fortwendel, of Troy; nieces and nephews, Hannah, Ben, Dan and Lydia Scott, Jabez and Mabel Fortwendel, Kendra Owens, Chloe Fortwendel, Lyndon and Capri Kelly and Jordan Kenig, Jacob Vinson, Lexi, Landen and Jersie Vinson, James, Jayden and Jamal Garrett, JJ, Joshua and James Calvert; and many beloved aunts, uncles, friends and extended family.
She is preceded in death by grandfather, Joseph Fortwendel; grandmother, Doris Tooley; brothers, Todd Vinson and James Calvert Jr.; uncles, Mark Fortwendel and Tom Parker; and aunt, Mary Fortwendel.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. CST on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Troy. Brother Brian Adkins will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
