Cecilia T. (Spalding) Winiger, 97, of Evansville, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 at University Nursing and Rehab, formerly Little Sisters of the Poor.
She had been a cook at Mater Dei High School from 1958 until 1963, then at St. Philip Grade School for 23 years until her retirement in 1986.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Winiger, in 1973; a daughter, Donna Alsop; a son, William.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Thomasson, of Crestview, Fla., and one son, Malcolm, of Evansville; one sister, Monica Hulsey, of St. Philip. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rev. Ted Tempel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday September 3, 2014 from 3 until 7 p.m. at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at St. Philip Catholic Church.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Riley Children's Hospital, Little Sisters of the Poor, Salvation Army or St. Philip Catholic Church.
