Eugene Winternheimer, 85, of Wadesville, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital Main Campus. He was born in Evansville to Clarence and Leona Winternheimer.
Mr. Winternheimer had been employed at U. S. Postal Service for 25 years, and was a lifetime farmer in the Wadesville community. He served in the U. S. Army stationed at Fort Knox during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Funkhouser Post.
He was also a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Wadesville.
He is survived by three sons, Michael (Freda) Winternheimer, of Lady Lake, Fla., Boyd (Elisabeth) Winternheimer, of Wadesville, and Randy (Catherine) Winternheimer, of Evansville; a sister, Eleanor Herrenbruck; and two brothers, Ralph and Clifford Winternheimer. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Elnora J. (Ritter) Winternheimer, on July 6, 2014; his parents; and a brother, David Winternheimer.
Funeral services for Eugene will be private with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pierre Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
