Inez Vick of Evansville, Indiana, 81, deceased on Palm Sunday, March 24 at DeKalb Medical Hospital-Hillandale, in Lithonia, Georgia surrounded by her loving family. Born March 29, 1931 in McKenzie, Tennessee to Alma and Feron Bledsoe, she was the 7th of 11 children. After graduating from Webb High School in McKenzie, she began studying History and Political Science while attending Tennessee State University where she met and married Talmadge Vick, her loving husband and life companion for 60 years.
Inez's passion was young people and community service involvement and initiatives. She served as President of The Bellemeade Bayard Park Neighborhood Association for nearly 20 years. There she was able to get many community based projects including new housing developments into the Center City. She was a Director at Carver Community Center and a Recreation Director of the C. K. Newsome Community Center. Inez received numerous honors, awards, and recognition for the outstanding community service contributions she made over her productive life.
In addition to her husband, Talmadge Vick, and her children, Talmadege Vick of Evansville and Stephanie Vick (Corbin) of Lithonia, Georgia, she leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Era Smith of Jacksonville, Florida; granddaughter, Lindsay Inez Corbin; grandsons, Cameran Darrett and Talmadge Vick, III; great grandson, JaRon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11:00am at Memorial Baptist Church, 645 Canal Street in Evansville. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel, 1001 Lincoln Avenue. Mason Brothers in charge of arrangements.
