Forrest R. "Jack" Freshley, 87, of Rockport, Indiana passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Core Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dale, Indiana with his son by his side.
Jack was born in Rockport, Indiana on April 26, 1925 to the late Raymond and Nora (Jeffries) Freshley.
Jack served in the United States Army in Germany and France during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Combat Infantry Badge, two Bronze Stars, and two Purple Hearts. He attained the rank of Technical Sergeant and was a member of the Rockport American Legion Post 254. Jack retired from ARKLA in 1975 as an operations foreman. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Harold Glenn Freshley.
Jack is survived by his wife, Jean (Lehr) Freshley of Rockport, IN; Daughter, Ellen "Susie" McCreary and her husband, William of Indianapolis, IN; Son, Michael Freshley of Loganville, GA; Brother, Colonel Robert Freshley of Jeanerette, LA.
Services are 10 A.M. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport, Indiana with Father Christopher Forler officiating. Burial is in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Rockport, Indiana. The Rockport American Legion Post 254 will conduct military honors.
Visitation is from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. Monday, April 8, 2013 and from 8 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. Tuesday at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Indiana. A prayer service will be held at 7 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to VistaCare Hospice Center and St. Bernard Catholic Church.
