Donald Herbert Kramer, 81, of Rockport, Indiana passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at his sister's home in Tennyson, Indiana.
Donald was born in Spencer County, Indiana on September 26, 1931 to the late Roy and Gladys (Shrode) Kramer.
Donald served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from October 15, 1949 until October 3, 1955 as an Aviation Machinist's Mate 2nd Class on the Naval Ship USS Batan CVL 29. Don worked at the McDonnel Douglas Corp. for 35 years retiring on December 31, 1993. His job required a security clearance in the building of classified military aircraft. He was an avid hunter, and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He belonged to the St. Louis Bench Rest Rifle Club, and the St. Charles Shotgun Shooting Club. He was heavily involved in photography, bowling, cycling, and especially model airplanes belonging to the St. Louis Radio Controlled Flying Association and the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Anna Marie Kramer Shourds; Sister-in-law, Phyllis Hagan Kramer.
Donald is survived by his siblings, Jo Nell Kramer of Tennyson, IN; Earl Royce Kramer of Washington, IL; Many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Zoar Cemetery near Rockport, Indiana. The Rockport American Legion Post 254 will conduct military honors.
Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Indiana is entrusted with care.
