Boonville, Ind.
Surrounded by the love and care of her family, Lucile Catheryn Kirsch Ford passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Friday afternoon, March 15, 2013.
Lucile was born to Louis Carl Kirsch and Pearl Tanquary Kirsch, in Evansville, Ind., January 14, 1925. Her parents and her brother, Charles preceded her in death.
An accomplished musician, she played the piano, organ, harp and violin, winning state awards in high school. Graduating from Bosse High School in Evansville, she pursued her love of languages, both German and Spanish, by attending DePaul University, Indiana University, the University of Texas and the University of Mexico in Mexico City. Completing her master's degree in Austin, she worked as a translator for Mead-Johnson, and taught Spanish and German in Austin, San Antonio and Houston.
She married Douglas Walsh Ford, Aug. 18, 1948. He preceded her in death in 1990.
She moved to Roswell to be closer to her four children and grandchildren. An avid reader, and international traveler, she visited many countries around the world. She was active in Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a regent for the local chapter. She was a lifetime member of Zeta Tau Alpha, Sons of the American Revolution, an investment club, bridge, politics, Bible classes and the First United Methodist Church. At the time of her death, she was a resident of LaVilla Assisted Living Center.
She is survived by her four children, Kay Vasquez and her husband, Santiago, of Roswell, Jeff and Cookie Ford, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Pat and Ronnie Miles, of Roswell, and Pierce T. Ford, of Albuquerque. Her legacy lives on through her nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Katie and Nic Ferrington and their daughter, Harper, Christi and Tim Schwalk and their daughter Kenley, David Ford, Cameron Cox and his wife, Mandy, Pierce Ford, Jamie Ford, Preston Miles, Kelsey Miles and Ryan Ford.
Graveside service 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville, Ind.
