George D. Taylor, 78 of Evansville, IN passed away at 11:35 pm, Monday, July 8, 2013 at St. Mary's Warrick Hospital.
George was born December 7, 1934 in Boonville the son of Dalton and Beulah (Kern) Taylor. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. George owned and operated Taylor's Body Shop in Evansville until his retirement in 1978. He also owned Taylor and Brown Investments and Tri State Truck Sales up until the time of his death.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Shirley (Miller) Taylor of Boonville, children of the heart, Melody (Steve) Dickerson of Chandler, IN and Terry Riney and Lisa Conkling, both of Evansville and Ladonna (Phil) Shreve and Cathy (Mike) Shreve, all of Henderson, KY, granddaughter of the heart, Ashley Dickerson, brother, Charles (Deanna) Taylor of Pensacola, FL, his beloved cat, Bubby and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Vern and Dwann Taylor, his best buddy, Larry, Sr. and Faye Lillpop of Chandler and Larry Lillpop, Jr. and family of Newburgh for their kindness and compassion. The family would also like to thank Dr. Steve Elliott, Shelly Gates, Dr. David Curtis and Dr. Bill Samm.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Monday, July 15, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Phil Hoy officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform full military rites.
Friends may call from 2 pm until 7 pm, Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel and again from 9 am until time of service 10 am, Monday. To honor George's wishes please dress casually and comfortably for the visitation and service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Vanderburgh or Warrick County Humane Societies. In memory of George please hug someone close to you today and tell them you love them.
