Jerry Warne Denton
Jerry Warne Denton died of cancer March 23, 2014, at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. He was 73 years old.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. Ernest Sigler Denton and Mary Burton Bennett Denton. of Henderson County, Ky.
His father was a Methodist minister and severed churches throughout Kentucky. Jerry's education began in Hardinsburg and continued in Sturgis then in Greensburg. He graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1958. Jerry excelled in music and the arts. Jerry attended one year at Western Kentucky University and one year at Kentucky Wesleyan College. Jerry enlisted in the Army National Guard in Bardstown, KY. He completed his training in Chicago, IL. Upon his discharge from the Army in 1967, Jerry moved to Chicago where he studied for two years at The Ray Vogue School of Interior Design. He worked as a home fashion coordinator for John M. Smyth Furniture Store for 18 years and later worked for other furniture stores as a display artist. Jerry also was an interior decorator for individuals and was an outstanding floral designer. He was a member at Henderson First United Methodist Church.
Jerry leaves extended family and a multitude of friends.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Henderson, KY, on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 10 a.m., with the Reverend Jim Wofford officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Fernwood Cemetery, Henderson, KY.
