Bill J. Lutz, 89 of Princeton passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014 at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1924 in Union Township, Gibson County, to Leo C. and Iona E. (King) Lutz. He lived in Gibson County all of his life.
Bill retired in 1988 as owner operator, along with his wife Jean, of Lutz Appliance Store in Princeton. Before that he had worked for R.J. Oil Refinery. He graduated from Mackey High School where he played on the basketball team. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was an active life member in the Knights of Columbus Council 1134, also a member of the Princeton Elks Lodge #634. Bill was an avid sports enthusiast a big supporter of P.C.H.S. sporting events and I.U. basketball.
He is survived by his two sons, David Lutz and John Lutz both of Princeton; three grandchildren, Lauri M. Lutz and her fiancé, Robert "Chad" Clemens, Neal S. Lutz, Justin P. Lutz and Rachelle (Danny) Carver, four great grandchildren, Shantel Lutz, Kaydan Carver, Colton Ryder and Kendrick Carver, three nephews and special friends, George and Anita Duncan and their sons Justin and Dustin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mildred "Jean" Lutz in 2003 and brother Donald Lutz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday May 3, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton, with Fr. Ronald Zgunda as celebrant. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the Church. Burial of his cremated remains will take place in the St. Joseph Cemetery immediately following services. Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gibault School for Boys in Terre Haute. Envelopes will be available at the church. Condolences may be expressed on-line at
