Judy Kaye (Sellner) Phillips
Boonville, IN.
Judy Kaye (Sellner) Phillips passed away Sunday, May 11th, 2014, at the age of 63, after a long battle with breast cancer.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Lloyd, whom she married on June 14th, 1968. She leaves three strong daughters: Tonya (Michael) Edwards, Pam (Joe) Koleszar, and Jamie (Matt) Cartwright, to whom she passed on her stubborness and signature cackle. She adored her seven grandchildren: Zak and Aly Edwards, Nick and Katie Koleszar, and Ryder, Rylee, and Remy Cartwright, and a pack of granddoggies and grandkitties. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Isaiah Edwards.
Also surviving are her siblings, Edward Sellner, Louise Suits, Sue Leff, Paul (Linda) Sellner, Linda (Carroll) Dickerson, John Sellner, and James Sellner, and dozens of nieces and nephews whom she treated as her own. Judy's extended family included Lloyd's siblings Mike (Katie), Nancy (deceased), and Roger (Darlene), and their families.
Judy opened her home to everyone, and her daughters' friends considered her their favorite second mom. Although in recent months, she began to lose her voice, the neighborhood knew when it was time for Judy's girls to come home. Family and friends were invited to dinner and were admonished to "come back when you can stay longer than five minutes."
Judy enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, hosting holiday gatherings, relaxing at family bonfires, traveling the country, watching horror films, and shopping for shoes and purses. She recently retired from the Medical Records Department at Deaconess Clinic. She had also worked at Southwestern Indiana Mental Health Center, Trinity Bible College, and Embassy Apparel.
Her family extends many thanks to Dr. Maqbool Ahmed and his staff at the Deaconess Clinic for their excellent care and attention. We would also like to thank IOPO for the opportunity to donate her corneas. Memorial contributions may be made to Evansville or the Ronald McDonald House.
Visitation will be held at Koehler's Funeral Home in Boonville, Indiana, on Thursday, May 15, from 3-8pm, and Friday, May 16, from 12pm until service time. The funeral service is scheduled for 2pm on Friday, with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery.
