Vesta Scales Obituary
Chandler, Ind.
Vesta Rachael Scales, 91, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 at her residence in Chandler, Ind.
Rachael was a life member of Chandler Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a member of Gideon Society and a lifetime member of Acme Rebekah Lodge #306 in Chandler, a three year member of Canal Lodge #209 of Odd Fellows, past president Association Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant Dept. of Indiana, past president of Rebekah Assembly of Indiana.
Rachael had worked at Hardy Sand Company for 18 years as bookkeeper and had been bookkeeper at Tri-State Machine Shop.
Rachael liked to crochet and to travel.
Rachael was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Louise Roll; and her husband of 67 years, Albert "Abbie" Scales; son, Albert Raymon Scales Jr., son, Harold C. Scales; sisters, Helen Schwoeppe, Reba Gore; brother, Cecil Roll; granddaughter, Kathy Lynn Scales.
Survived by her son, Richard M. Scales (Rita); daughter, Rebecca J. Cottingham (Robert Sr.); daughter-in-law, Sue Scales; sister, Margaret Flowers; six grandchildren, Albert Raymon Scales III (Cheryl), Stephanie A. Boyles (Jeff), Tra'Cee Dickerson (William), Dr. Robert Cottingham (Dr. Chrissy), Nicholas C. Scales (Stefanie), Amy C. Scales; six great-grandchildren, Cody Scales, Katelyn Scales, Austin Scales, Ethan Scales, Ashlee Dickerson Ryder Cottingham, Ruby Cottingham and Ashlyne Simmons and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Chandler Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Chandler, Ind. Friends may call Wednesday 2 tp 8 p.m. at Koehler Funeral Home-Perigo Chapel 7022 Heim Road and Thursday noon until funeral time at Chandler Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A Rebekah Memorial service by Acme Lodge 306 will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in memory of Rachael may be made to the Chandler Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Richard, Becky and Rachel's entire family: We send our love and sympathy to you. We have very fond memories of her (and Abbie) when they were youth group sponsors. They both have a very special place in heaven. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve but we know you are proud of the guidance you received from them as you were growing up. They touched many lives in their witness for the Lord.
