Shirley Lee (Eis) Cree
Evansville, Ind.
Shirley Lee (Eis) Cree, 78, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at HealthSouth Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital.
Shirley was born in Delphi, Indiana on April 16, 1937 to the late Earl and Mildred (Fross) Eis. She retired from the EVSC where she was a Speech Pathologist and Early Childhood Development Coordinator. She was also an Early Childhood Development Surveyor for Head Start Programs with the federal government. Shirley was chess coach for Cynthia Heights and a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ German Township. She enjoyed spending time with family and enjoyed the company of her close friends in later years.
Shirley is survived by her son, Phillip Cree of Evansville; special friend and mother of her grandchildren, Angela Cree; a sister, Ruth Ann Brown, of Wabash, IN; her grandchildren, Michael, Luke, and Jacob; a niece and 4 nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Cree, in 2011; her parents; and a brother, David Eis.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ German Township, 8701 Big Cynthiana Rd., Evansville, IN, 47720, with Pastor Linda Nanninga officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's UCC cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, March 28, 2016 at Browning Funeral Home, and again from 10:00 AM until time of service on Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's UCC or to the Goebel Endowment Fund at St. Paul's.

In Scottland 2013

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I am so sorry for your loss. I met Shirley on a trip to England in April 2013. She was a wonderful lady. I really enjoyed her company. She amazed me that she could fly all the way to England by herself! We had a lot of fun on the trip :) I especially remember when we all went to the Scottish night and tried the specialty "haggis"! I remained friends with Shirley on facebook. May she rest in peace.

Shirley was the Pioneeer in getting Speech Therapy into preschools. There are hundreds of grateful parents that could say thank you. So I say it for all of us Thank you Mrs. Shirley. Rest well, your job is complete. Donna Wagner

Shirley will be missed by many! She was fun to be with, cared about others, and loved her family. She was sooo proud of her three grandsons, loved her son, Phillip, and treasured her relationship with Angie. One of her favorite accomplishments was when she coached the Cynthia Heights Chess Team. She loved her chess kiddos and developed that club to be one of the best! She was my friend---and---I miss her already!
