STEWART- Betsy Brown September 11, 1918 - November 23, 2013 Betsy was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and lived there until she marries her best boy, James Stewart on July 2, 1947. Jim and Betsy began their married life together in Newtonstewart, Ireland. It was from there that they emigrated to Canada in 1959. Once in Canada, they and their four children settled in Regina for a short while. From ther they moved to Grenfell, Saskatchewan. Jim and Betsy moved to the Comox Valley in 1976, where they enjoyed a long and joyful retirement together. Betsy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Jim, her four children Hamilton (Kim), Elspeth, Jim (Shannon) and Morag (Allan). She will be profoundly missed by them all, and by her seven grandchildren Iain, Eric, Michael, Stephanie Jolaine, Melissa and Aysha. It was a great to Betsy to have known her first great grandchild, Elphaba, daughter of Eric and Jessica. Our dear mother and cherished grandmother passed away peacefully at 11:00 in the morning at St. Joseph's Hospital, surrounded by those she most dearly loved. We will miss her every day, more than words can express. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph's for their care and effort in making Betsy's last days as comfortable as possible. In particular, we owe a great debt of gratitude to Dr. Swanson, who made this difficult time manageable. We invite you to join us for a visitation at Piercy's- Mt.
