REGETZ, Joseph July 22, 1931 - September 8, 2013 On Sunday, September 8, 2013 Dad passed away peacefully while sleeping in his recliner in his room at Lakeside Gardens of congestive heart failure. Joe was born in Slovakia on July 22, 1931 to Josef and Marie Regetz. He was the oldest of four children. He is survived by his two children Darlene Mah, (Christie and TJ) Kelly Poystila (Dave) Tyler and Morgan. Sisters Ann Wolff (Herbert) Linda and Monica and Elizabeth Regetz. At the age of 20 and not speaking any English, he boarded a boat to Canada. Landing in Quebec, he then journeyed by train to Alberta. He resided in Edmonton before moving west to BC to find work. In Vancouver he met and married Joan Kearney in 1961. The following year they moved to Nanaimo, until buying their 20 acre farm in Cassidy in 1963, where they raised their two daughters Darlene and Kelly. The girls and their families still reside on their one acre properties that was subdivided off of the original farm. Joe worked as a machinist at the Crofton pulp mill for 24 years and retired at the age of 58. He continued to enjoy his retirement on the farm and travelling. From the farm he moved to Yellow Point where he remained for 15 years until moving to Lakeside Gardens for the last year and a half. Joe enjoyed his many years socializing, singing and dancing with friends at the Moose Hall and various Legions. We cherish memories of him riding the tractor on the farm and all his never ending projects. A celebration of Joe's life will be held on October 19, 2013 at the Moose Hall in Chase River from 1-3 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, spend time with family and friends and live your life to the fullest.
