Linda Maroney Obituary

Linda Faye Maroney, 64, of Crestview, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013.

She was born in Okaloosa County on April 15, 1949 to Joseph C. and Lilli May Locke.

She graduated Crestview High School in 1964 and completed the Dale Carnegie course in Effective Speaking and Human Relations, where she received Honors for her exceptional presentation. She was married to Mr. Thomas M. Maroney, an Air Force enlisted officer.

She worked at the Pensacola News Journal, where she teletyped news articles for the reporters to meet urgent deadlines. She was instrumental in the organization of the NCO wives club at Shepard Air Force Base after being elected president.

She always "dressed to the nines" as she and her husband would say. She babysat for the mothers of Air Force personnel where their husbands were TDY and did not charge them for the children's care. She was also instrumental in the Road Runner Skeet and Shotgun Club, in New Mexico, where she conducted tournaments and tallied the scores of the results.

Her children are Thomas Joseph Maroney of West Virginia, Christopher Eric Maroney of Thomasville, Ga., Jason Lee Maroney of Oklahoma City; and grandchildren Maverick Maroney, Parker Maroney, Makenna Maroney, and Bailey Maroney. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made out to either the Breast Cancer Foundation or the ASPCA in Lynda Locke Maroney's name.

Donate to the Breast Cancer Foundation at 6923 Marynardville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918 or P.O. Box 15438, West Palm Beach, FL 33416; or P.O. Box 607, Butler, WI 53222.
