Battle, Bessie Lee (Battles) - Crestview  
Bessie Lee Battles Battle, age 73, of Crestview, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at home with her family. She was born Nov. 9, 1941 in Huntsville, Ala., and had lived in the area 40 years. Bessie was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church of Huntsville and attended the House of Praise in Crestview. She was known as the "Snowball Lady." She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. Her parents, Roosevelt Battles and Lillie Coleman; a grandson, Jarren Tellis; and her brother, Roosevelt Battles Jr., preceded Bessie in death. Her survivors are three children, Alvin Battle, Ronda Battle Drake (Gartrell) and Vynita Battle Tellis; five siblings, Tyrone Battles, Kenneth Battles, Vincent "Butch" Battles, Valerie Battles and Sandy Brazelton; and grandchildren, Valeena Battle, Lucretia Drake, Tremayne Drake, Jarques Drake, Gartrell Drake, James Nitzke, Maurice Nitzke, Anthony Nitzke, Xavier (Jessica) Tellis, Larzares Tellis and Natalia Tellis; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Dec. 1 at the House of Praise, 217 Lakeview Drive, Crestview, with Elder Sammy Radford Sr. officiating. Burial follows in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Bush, Jewel (Wilkinson) - Milligan  
Jewel Wilkinson Bush, age 81, of Milligan, passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014. She was born April 28, 1933 and was a lifelong resident of Milligan. Jewel was seamstress with Alatex and a sales clerk with Carp's Department Store. She was a 1951 graduate of Baker High School, where she was valedictorian. Her husband, James Lee Bush; parents, Ivan and Lela Wilkinson; brothers, Dayton, Clayton, Tim and Ronnie Wilkinson; and two nephews, Dewayne and Charles Wilkinson, preceded Jewel in death. Survivors are four children and their spouses, Pam and Paul Gunter, Steve and Debbie Fernandez, Donna and Darel Lundy, Kerry and Jim Wood; one stepson and his wife, Joe and Kathy Bush; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life is Nov. 29 at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Brackney Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
