Doris Espino - who was born June 15, 1924, in London, England to Henry and Mary Sedergreen - died Dec. 25, 2013 in Crestview.
Doris grew up in London, where she survived destructive World War II bombing raids. She was married in England in 1943 and came to the United States in 1944. She was a loving and caring mother to her two sons during her first marriage and throughout her life.
Doris and Mario Espino married in 1971. They lived in Bossier City, La., and Houston before transferring to Mobile, Ala., and becoming proud, patriotic United States citizens. They also lived in Elmo, near Columbia, S.C., before retiring in Crestview in 2004.
Doris enjoyed music, gardening, the Gulf beaches, the mountains and, most of all, spending time with her family.
Her son, John Amaon of Clayton, N.C., preceded her in death.
Surviving family members include John's widow and Doris' daughter-in-law, Marcia; Mario Espino of Crestview, her husband for more than 42 years; grandchildren and great-grandchildren in North Carolina; and her son, Bob Amaon (Bonnie) and grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Dallas and Boulder, Colo.
Doris has five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She is remembered with love, respect and appreciation by her family. She will be missed.
Funeral proceedings were Dec. 30 at Brackney Funeral Service in Crestview, followed by a graveside service at Live Oak Park Memorial Cemetery in Crestview.
