Robert Lee "Bob" Utz(1930 - 2013)

Robert (Bob) Lee Utz, age 82, of Crestview, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013. He was born Dec. 20, 1930 in Florence, Ky. and moved here 13 years ago from Wildwood and Central Florida.

He was a chaplain and probation officer with the Sumpter County Correctional Facility and served as minister of music at several churches, including First Baptist Church of Wildwood and Magnolia Baptist Church in Laurel Hill, where he was a member.

Bob served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was an avid music lover, singing and directing choirs. He played baseball in his younger years.

Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Betty Utz; four children, Cheryl Davis, Robyn (J.R.) Sitzlar, Kim (Bill) Hancock and Kathryn Coleman; one brother, Allen Utz; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life is at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, from the Brackney Funeral Service chapel in Crestview, with the Rev. Bob Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
