Dorothy Prahl Gatlin, 80, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 21, 2013, at North Okaloosa Medical Center. She was born Sept. 24, 1932, in Pierce, Neb., to the late Oscar and Bernice Prahl.

In addition to her parents, her sisters, Laverne Gregory and Jean Schulz, precede her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James W. Gatlin of Crestview; brother, Kenneth Prahl of Pierce, Neb.; two sons, Steve M. Gatlin and wife, Sandy, of Senoia, Ga., and Jerry A. Gatlin and wife, Jeannie, of Niceville; one daughter, Beth A. Smith and husband, Fred, of Fort Walton Beach; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous other extended family.
Dorothy loved reading, classic movies, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of her church and generously helped to feed the homeless.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Committal services followed at Live Oak Park Memorial Cemetery.
Flowers are being accepted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, 178 West North Avenue, Crestview, FL 32536.
