Michael Koon Obituary
His parents were the late Carolyn Jackson Koon of Lakeland, a former Crestview resident; and Buck and Doris Koon of Jacksonville.
Mike attended high school and college in Aiken, S.C., and majored in computer science. He was an avid NASCAR follower, and a master computer gamer and remote car racer.
Mike battled muscular dystrophy his entire life.
A memorial service in his honor will be held in Jacksonville. Interment will be at Shady Grove Assembly of God in Baker later.
The News Bulletin publishes North Okaloosa County residents and former residents' obituaries for $45 including a photo. Family members should write the 500-word announcements and funeral homes should submit them to the newspaper for confirmation. We may edit submissions for style. To us, Mike was just another one of the guys on the track. always there to lend a hand and support his online friends however he could. so sad to hear of his untimely passing. my deepest sympathy!

It was my pleasure to know Mike through Simracing since the early days. He was a great competitor, teammate and friend. I wish his family my condolences.He is in a place we all hope to be someday. RIP my friend.

I am a fellow sim-racer, that never had the chance to meet Mike. I know Mike through his online friends, Mike's courageous battle is an inspiration. Believing for comfort to all Mike's friends and family in this time of loss.
