Thomas R. Carter Jr., age 81, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 3, 2013, from complications related to Parkinson's disease at The Manor at Bluewater Bay in Niceville.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Billye C. Carter, his children, Thomas Reed Carter III, LaDonna Walsingham (Joe), and Nanette Davis (Brock), and his five grandchildren.
Mr. Carter was an Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean War, and a 37-year employee of Sears, Roebuck & Company.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Crestview. His vast civic involvement over the years included serving as President of Lions Club, Toastmasters, Kiwanis, and the United Methodist Men's Conference. He served two terms as a Lynn Haven city commissioner.
A memorial service is at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at the First United Methodist Church of Crestview. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Blue Lake United Methodist Church Camp, either directly or through First United Methodist Church of Crestview.
