Fasanella, JoAnn Simko JoAnn Simko Fasanella, age 47, of Stratford, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 28th, after fighting a courageous battle against cancer. JoAnn is the wife of Matt Fasanella and is survived by her three children, Jenna, Kyle, and Matthew. She is the daughter of Annette (Bucci) & Chuck Simko, sibling of Lisa Simko Smith (Geoff), Lynn Simko (Ed Nilsen), and Chuck Simko Jr. (Janis), daughter-in-law of Georgene & Matthew Fasanella and brothers-in-law and their wives Tony (Angela), and Chris (Vanessa). She also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. JoAnn was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Josephine (Testo) and James Bucci and paternal grandparents, Helen and George Simko. JoAnn was born in Bridgeport, CT and graduated from St. Joseph's High School and Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in Computer Science. She was most recently employed as an office manager with Vimini Associates. Always involved in her children's schools and activities, she was active in volunteer work for St. Mark School and Stratford High School. JoAnn was loving, selfless, compassionate, and a genuinely beautiful person inside and out. She had an infectious smile and will be forever missed and loved by those whose lives she touched. A special thank you to Dr. Persico and Dr. Bedford for their compassionate care. Also a special thanks to the MICU and North Tower 7 nurses at Bridgeport Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 3rd at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Church 500 Wigwam Lane Stratford. Interment will be private. Friends may greet JoAnn's family on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Ferreira, Ventura - Bridgeport  
Ferreira, Ventura Ventura (Jose) Ferreira, age 71, longtime resident of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Norwalk Hospital surrounded by his family. Born on January 26, 1944 in Vilela-Seca, Chaves, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio Ferreira & Josefina Coelho Ferreira. Upon coming to America, Ventura worked as a laborer with CT Union 665. He was a proud member of the Vasco da Gama Portuguese Club in Bridgeport, as well as an avid fisherman and a Benfica Soccer fan. He was a loving brother, father, and grandfather who will be truly missed by all who knew him. Ventura is survived by his three sons; Fernando M. Ferreira of Bridgeport, Paul M. Ferreira and his wife Charlene of Shelton and Steven M. Ferreira and his wife Melissa of Shelton; grandchildren Nicholas, Mia, Jake, and Brayden Ferreira; sisters Maria Pereira and her husband Joao of Shelton, Lucinda Lopes and her husband Armindo of Mineola, Long Island, and Lucilia Pereira of Mineola, Long Island; goddaughter Sandra Mota and many loving nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Manuel and Antonio Ferreira and his former wife, Maria Mota. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Road, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Fingelly, Catherine - Southport  
Fingelly, Catherine Catherine (Honey) Phillips Fingelly, age 90, passed away peacefully in her Southport, Connecticut home surrounded by her loved ones on June 29, 2015. Honey was born on March 27th, 1925 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Harry and Theofania Elia Phillips. After graduating from Wilby High School in Waterbury, class of 1942, Honey worked alongside her brothers in their Phillip's Cafe in Watertown and a doctor's office before marrying Nicholas H. Fingelly in 1948. Honey and Nick were happily married for 44 years until Nick's death in 1992. Honey was a dedicated member of Southport Congregational Church, and until recently, enjoyed walking from her home to church service every Sunday morning. As an avid baker, golfer and bowling enthusiast, Honey forged many enduring friendships, readily sharing the most delicious treats from her kitchen. However, her most remarkable virtue was her ability to endure and accept life's many difficult challenges, sorrow and loss, always with grace and forever courageous in her deep faith. Honey was a wonderful mother, embracing a joyful approach to life. She is survived by her loving family; daughters and sons-in law, Catherine and Erik Granneberg of Southport, Victoria and William Bodine of Fairfield, Virginia and Geoffrey Woods of Fairfield, Brian J. Daly and Erin Dunne, of Fairfield, and Elizabeth and David Stauffer of Darien; her grandchildren Nicholas H. Granneberg, Christopher Granneberg and his fiance, Michele Yin, Elizabeth Daly, Catherine Daly and her fiance, Andrew Alessandrini, Victoria Daly, Christian Stauffer and his fiance Molly Hornstein, Alexandra Stauffer and Taylor Stauffer as well as two great grand-daughters, Sophia Rose Granneberg and Ava Victoria Alessandrini. She is also survived by her niece Rita and husband Edward Bushka, and nephews William and wife Janice Prifty, Robert and wife Ruth Prifty and Phillip Phillips, her exceptional and compassionate caregivers Irina Sikharulidze, Asia Kordowska and Wanda Vangorden and many dear cousins, great nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband Nick, Honey is predeceased by her parents Harry and Theofania Phillips, her sister Dorothy Prifty and brothers, Oscar and Philip Phillips. Honey's Memorial Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 8th at 11 AM in Southport Congregational Church, at 524 Pequot Avenue with Reverend Paul Whitmore officiating. Fritz, Ruth - Trumbull  
Fritz, Ruth B. Ruth B. Fritz (nee Burns) died in her home on June 29, 2015 in Arlington, MA due to complications following leukemia. She was 87. Ruth was born on December 21, 1927 in Waterbury, CT to her parents, Joseph and Margaret Burns. She grew up in the Morris Cove area of New Haven, CT. Ruth raised her family in Trumbull, CT where she worked as a real estate broker and appraiser for over 30 years. She moved to the Boston area in 2000, where she resided with her daughter. Ruth was a social butterfly who made friends wherever she traveled. She was athletic and continued to lead an active life up until the end. She had a contagious laugh and a dry sense of humor that kept everyone entertained and on their toes. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Marianne Fritz of Arlington, MA; her sister Margaret Mary (Burns) Clancy of New Haven, CT; as well as an extensive extended family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. Fritz; and her brother, Joseph E. Burns, Jr. A wake will take place July 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Keefe Funeral Home, Arlington, MA. A Memorial Mass will take place on July 6 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Parish, Arlington, MA. Ruth will be buried in a private ceremony on July 7, 2015 at 12 p.m. at St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington, CT. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ruth's life.
