Ellis, John - Norwalk  
Ellis, John W. John W. Ellis, age 92, of Norwalk, CT passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2016. He was born on April 6, 1924 in Bristol, RI to the late John W. and Louise Ellis. He served in the US Navy in the Pacific Corridor during WWII as an Aviation Electrician's Mate, First Class Petty Officer. He was a life member (since 1961) and past commander of the American Legion Post 12 on Country Street in Norwalk. He was an electrician by trade for his career. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for 67 years and a former Business Manager. He also served as Chapter Manager of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) for many years. He is survived by his four children, Kathi Fitzherbert and husband Gary of Washington, CT, Jacqueline Ellis and husband Paul Gilbert of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Kevin Ellis and wife Jean of Vero Beach, FL and John Ellis and wife Michele of Fairfield, CT and his six grandchildren, Kristi Beck and husband Jon, Anne and Matthew Gilbert, Marina, Marissa and Colleen Ellis. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Sarah Beck. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Dorothea Parks Ellis and his brother James Ellis. He is also predeceased by his loving partner of 8 years, Jean Iaizzi Black. The wake will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk on Wednesday, May 25 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. His memorial service will take place at Collins Funeral Home on Thursday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. with interment following at Riverside Cemetery, 81 Riverside Avenue, Norwalk. Emilio, Angelina - Bridgeport  
Emilio, Angelina Angelina Bonsignore Emilio, age 94 of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Andrew C. Emilio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 3, 1921, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Emilia Bonsignore. Before her retirement she was an employee of the former Casco Products of Bridgeport for many years. Dedicated to her family, Angelina was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. The family would like to thank Sevengee Inchiman for all the care and love she provided to Angelina. Survivors include her loving son, Sal Emilio and his wife, Ronnie of Shelton, two cherished grandchildren, Andrew Emilio and his wife Sarah, and Samantha Emilio, two adored great grandchildren, Elliana and Avey and a sister-in-law, Sally Bonsignore as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. French, Joseph - Fairfield  
French, Joseph R. Joseph R. French, age 92, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Helen A. French (Dolengiewicz), passed away peacefully Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Ludlow Health Center 1 day after celebrating his 68th wedding anniversary. Born in Bridgeport the son of the late Joseph and Mary "Mae" (Everett) French, he had been a Fairfield resident since 1952. Mr. French proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II performing anti-submarine operations aboard Sub-Chaser 709. Following the war he was employed by Chance-Vought, and later was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft retiring as a Machine Shop Foreman following 42 years of dedicated service. He was a member for over 60 years of Fidelity-St. John's Lodge # 3 A.F. & A.M. and a member of the Scottish Rite. Mr. French was a member for many years of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #2220, Fairfield, as well as Port 5 Naval Veterans, Bridgeport, and a member of Fairfield Grace United Methodist Church. He loved Big Band music especially Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman, watching classic movies, and was recognized by the American Red Cross for donating 100 pints of blood. Following his retirement, he and other Sikorsky retirees dedicated much of their time renovating the Sikorsky VS-44A Excambian World War II era flying boat which was recommissioned in 1998, and is currently displayed in the New England Air Museum. Survivors in addition to his loving wife Helen include three devoted sons, Glenn E. French and his wife Anne French of Fairfield, Mark L. French of Fairfield, and Kevin S. French and his wife Carole of Trumbull; four grandchildren, Michael Joseph French, Suzanne French, Mitchell French and Chrissy Smith; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother George French. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield with the Rev. Kun Sam Cho officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home. Fritz, John - Stratford  
Fritz, John L. John Lawrence Fritz, age 73 of Stratford passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at West Haven Veterans Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen Smith Fritz. Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late John and Mary Clark Fritz. Mr. Fritz was a resident of Trumbull and Stratford most of his life and also had previously lived in Vermont. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a mechanical engineer and also enjoyed his second career as a master gunsmith. He was the current President of Bridgeport Rifle Club, and former Rifle/Pistol Chairman of Fairfield County Fish and Game. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Alice Fritz of Shelton and Mary Fritz of Stratford, his son John Fritz of Shelton, his granddaughter, Katja Keeling, his great-grand daughter Amelia Keeling, his cousin, Joel Andrews, and his "brother-by-another-mother" Brian Huda. Friends may call Thursday 4-7pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull with a prayer service beginning at 7pm. Interment will be private. Gelbert, Alan - New Haven  
Gelbert, Alan Alan was a gentle, brilliant and talented man, cherished by his wife Joan of 58 years and his sons Andrew (Emily) and Michael and grandchildren Jacob, Max, Daniel and Sarah. Alan graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1948 and completed his undergraduate degree at UConn in three years, graduating in 1951. Following in his father's footsteps he received his dental degree from University of Pennsylvania Dental School in 1954. He then joined the Air Force and was stationed in Japan for two years. Upon his return Alan practiced dentistry in New Haven, was awarded the honor of becoming a Fellow of the American Dental Association and retired in 1999. He served as President of the New Haven Dental Association from 1975 – 1976 and President of Congregation Beth El Keser Israel from 1980 – 1982, remaining active with the synagogue for many years. With his golden touch and creative mind he built furniture, crafted Tiffany stained glass lamp shades and filled his leisure time with photography, tennis and witty poetry for friends' special occasions. Joan and Alan traveled extensively and after each trip he would create elaborate multimedia presentations which were shown at schools and organizations around Connecticut. The family wishes to thank the staff on Bennet 5 at Jewish Family Senior Services in Fairfield who gave Alan the best care and love throughout his 3 ½ years there. Alan lived life to the fullest and his sense of humor and beautiful smile will be forever missed. Funeral Services at Robert E. Gilbert, DeAndre & Tyler DeAndre Gilbert, 19 born May 13, 1997 and Tyler Gilbert born June 8, 1999, died tragically Saturday May 14, 2016. The brothers were born in Bridgeport, CT and attended school in Trumbull until the family moved to Jacksonville, NC. DeAndre and Tyler are survived by their parents Christine DuBose and Roland Gilbert Jr, an older brother Damon Gilbert and younger brother Brian Gilbert. Other survivors include, Maternal Grandmother Sherry DuBose and Paternal Grandfather Roland Gilbert Sr. Uncles; Patrick (Uncle Yo) Gilbert, of Virginia, Jesse DuBose and Pierrot Gilbert. Aunties; Denise (Yellow Auntie) Dubose, Queline Gilbert, Marie Gilbert, Minouche Gilbert Seabrook, of Virginia. Cousins; Shaina Sead (Sister-Cousin), Tylon DuBose, Miarcia Gilbert, Mariah Valintin, Anthony Valintin, Phylicia Gilbert, Baron Seabrook Jr, Chanelle Seabrook, Jahliel and Joshua Gilbert. They were predeceased by their Maternal Grandfather Robert DuBose and Paternal Grandmother Miarcia Gilbert. DeAndre and Tyler will be fondly remembered as kind big-hearted kids with heartwarming smiles. DeAndre was a true SneakerHead and Tyler loved the outdoors. The brothers had a love for life and family. They will be dearly missed by their family and many friends. Golden, Anne Anne Golden, age 85 of Boca Raton, FL and formerly of Fairfield, CT passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Anne was born in Brooklyn, NY a daughter of the late Sophie and Morris Shapiro. She worked at the University of Bridgeport for 25 years and lived most of her life in Connecticut before retiring in Florida. Anne was a beautiful woman inside and out and was loved by everyone who met her. She had a wicked sense of humor and loved to travel, sing, dance and tell jokes. Her personality was like no other. Her biggest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her devoted & loving daughters who were her best friends Abby (Larry) Rohinksy and their children Alexis, Austin, Adam & Rachel, Marni (Paul) Vinci and their children Sarah and Mark all of Fairfield, CT. She was predeceased by Charles, her loving husband of 59 years this past August and her cherished son, Scott. Her family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Hospice by the sea in Boca Raton, FL for their compassionate care. The funeral will take place on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road in Fairfield, with interment following at Loyalty Cemetery on Burroughs Road in Fairfield. Shiva will be observed following internment at the home of Abby Rohinsky, 120 Sherley Place in Fairfield, on Sunday, and Monday, May 30th with a 7:00 p.m. service.
