MEZZO - Anthony R. Mezzo, age 88 of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Dolores G. (Naples) Mezzo, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 6, 2013. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Rosaria and Salvator Mezzo, and his sisters and brothers in law: Phylis and Stanley Kaminski, Mary and Fred Zullo and Anne Evertts. Tony served in the US Navy
during WW11 as a baker and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After his service he continued his love of cooking and baking and was well known for his breads, rolls and pizza. His greatest accomplishment, along with his wife Dolores, was building a strong, close, loving family. The bond that his family shares will last forever. His sense of humor kept his family in laughter. His jokes and "Papaisms" will always remain in their hearts. Survivors include his loving children: Rosary Farhoud of California, Josephine Chanaca and the late William N. Chanaca, Jr. of Easton, Barbara Oeschger of Stratford, and Salvator and Theresa Mezzo of Stratford; his doting grandchildren, Tina and Alan David, Leila Farhoud and her companion Vincenzo, David Farhoud and his fiancé Megan, Toni and Mark Piazza, Nicole and Steven Collins, Thomas Chanaca and his companion Glady, Mathew Oeschger, Alison Mezzo and Eric Mezzo; and many great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast, especially fond of the Boston Red Sox. The family wishes a special thanks to his doctors and Vitas Innovative Hospice Care. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. by meeting directly at Saint James Church, 2110 Main St, Stratford. Interment with military honors will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may visit with the family Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the William R.
