Charles Hanlon, age 84, of Trumbull, Conn., passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Louise Engelhard Hanlon for 52 years. Born in Olyphant, Pa. on December 23, 1928 Charles was the son of the late Charles and Mary Casey Hanlon. He was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1946 and Butler Business School. Charles was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving from 1946-1948. While serving on the USS Midway to Europe he and his unit had an audience with Pope Pius XII. Charles retired from Sikorsky Aircraft in 1992. In addition to his loving wife he is survived by his God daughter Linda Stott; sisters-in-law, Theresa Hanlon, Ruth Engelhard, and Mildred Badick; nephews and niece, Jim Hanlon Jr. and his wife Patti, Joseph Hanlon and his wife Jennie, Janice Marschall and her husband Brian; and many close relatives in Louise's family. He was predeceased by his brother James and sister Marion. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. meeting directly in St. Stephen's Church, Trumbull with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call Tuesday 4-7 p.m. in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull.
