Frederick A. Fluegge, a resident of Cokesbury Village in Hockessin, DE passed away on October 28th, 2012. Fred was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 20, 1927. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1951 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked for the DuPont Co. for 35 years and began his career in Wilmington DE. He also worked at various DuPont locations including the East Chicago Works in Indiana, Experimental Station, Jackson Laboratory, Old Hickory in Tennessee, Pionki, Poland and the Fairfield Plant in Fairfield Connecticut where he retired as Technical Superintendent. He was part of the DuPont team that started a DuPont Plant in Poland that manufactured Corfam. Upon his retirement from DuPont, he went back to school to earn a teaching certificate. He then went on to teach Chemistry and Physics at Fairfield Preparatory School, a private boy's high school in Fairfield, Connecticut. He had a passion for classical music and singing and was a past, active member of the SPEBSQSA and a member of other choir's. His other interests were gardening, ballroom dancing, birding, astronomy, chess and spending time with his family. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 56.5 years, Evelyn Fluegge, daughters: Carol Fluegge of PA and Linda Bowen (husband Zack) of PA and three grandchildren: Samantha, Zack and Justin Bowen. A memorial mass to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 2:00 at St. Joseph on the Brandywine in Greenville, DE with family visitation beginning at 1:00.
